dearest Reader,
A Question for you:
What are your life pursuits? We all have desires/dreams in this life. Some of us are not certain about how to attain these pursuits while others among us have a keen sense of what we want.
As this writer approaches 50, she is inclined to consider her own; love travel and career success.
Perhaps she is burning with a strong desire to reach these goals and perhaps she yearns to get there in hopes of coming out of the rut of recovery.
Love:
After 2 failed marriages, it is only natural to crave passion romance and companionship. Some of you may remember how it feels to fall in love(if you’ve had the great fortune).
As spring has sprung, This writer thinks back on her first kisses and holding hands during long walks, butterflies in her stomach.she used to love flirting with a handsome fellow and laughing at everything he said.do you remember those things? Aww love;Such a beautiful thing.
Now ,as recovery approaches, this writer has concerns about finding future love. Will she fall in love again? Can she have great passion and romance with someone worthy?will they see past her physical limitations and embrace her for who she is (with or without a stroke). Is sex even an option?she hopes so.Oh please! It’s been too long!4.5 years to be exact( GASP!)
Surely, this writer realizes that life is not a fairy tale. She is fully within her rights to desire these things.isn’t it human nature?
Travel:
If you know this writer well, you know she loves a good trip in the sunshine. Picture her in a bikini lounging on the top deck of a glorious cruise ship sailing in the Caribbean headed toward St.Thomas. She’s likely sipping a coco loco tropical drink. She’s with her girls laughing on a celebratory pre 50th birthday trip.she’s ready to enjoy herself and enjoy a suite lifestyle to bring on this milestone. Thank God she’s made it 5 more years since the stroke. What a Blessing!how many of you have had the blessing of 5 extra years? This writer certainly has!
2 weeks before her 50th birthday, this writer intends to be sailing into 50! A much deserved opportunity. Let’s see if she will meet Mr.Right poolside to spark life into her. Can she get her groove back?(I’m told she doesn’t kiss and tell💋).
CareerSuccess:
This writer is a lifelong learner and as an educator knows the value of a good education. As she yearns to be back in the saddle working as she used to, she feels that going back to school could help prepare her for the next leadership opportunity waiting for her to recover. Although she has been known to say that she would never get a Doctorate degree, she has realized the err in that statement. After all, we’ve been told to never say never.and here she is after her mentor( the same woman who encouraged her to become a Principal) encouraged her to apply for a doctoral program. Having applied, this writer finds herself being accepted to a top notch doctoral program to earn her EdD(Doctor of Education degree)in administration and Educational Leadership. This is most certainly a challenge for this writer. She has faced numerous challenges before and is reminded that before slaying Goliath, David slayed a lion and a bear. He was more than ready to slay that giant! This writer knows a thing or two about slaying. She also knows that getting her Doctorate is the next step thru her-recovery and will rewire her brain to go back to normal.Let’s wish her luck! this is proof that a stinking stroke can’t keep her down! Onward!
